Silca Ultimate Brake and Drivetrain Cleaner

What makes the SILCA Brake and Drivetrain Cleaner change color? The SILCA Ultimate Brake and Drivetrain Cleaner sprays on as a clear solution, then foams and turns a purplish-red as it encapsulates and lifts oil, grease, and brake dust off your chain, cassette, chainrings, pulleys, and rotors. That color change is the tell: it shows the formula working and signals when the contamination has been captured and it is time to rinse. The whole process takes about 3 to 5 minutes, and a firm brush helps on a heavily caked drivetrain before a clean-water rinse. It eliminates brake squeal by clearing contamination off rotor surfaces, and crucially it will not attack the wax on your paint or drivetrain, unlike harsh solvent degreasers that strip protective coatings and good grease from seals and bearings. It rinses clean with no residue, so it is the right first move before re-lubing or re-waxing a chain. This is step 1, Clean, in SILCA's Bicycle Spa process, and it carries a Cinnamon scent that is a lot kinder than the usual degreaser.
