Shuttle Rug

The Shuttle Rug by Karakter brings hand-woven textile craft into contemporary interiors through a restrained material palette and a quietly expressive surface. Designed by Danish textile artist Karin Carlander in 2023, the rug is woven from paper yarn, a plant-based material chosen for its crisp texture, resilience, and delicate visual character. The result is a rug that feels refined, tactile, and distinctly modern. Carlander's work is rooted in traditional weaving techniques, shaped by her training in Denmark and France and her commitment to functional textiles for everyday life. For Shuttle, she uses paper yarn not as a novelty, but as a material with its own personality. Its inflexible structure creates a defined weave, while the dyed colors emphasize the rug's texture and bring subtle depth to the surface. Available in multiple sizes and colors, the Shuttle Rug works well in living rooms, bedrooms, offices, entry areas, and public interiors where texture and durability are equally important. Its clean rectangular format allows it to anchor a space without dominating it, while the material gives the piece a distinctive character that separates it from conventional wool or cotton rugs.
