Shun Narukami 6" Utility Knife

The Shun Narukami 6-inch Utility Knife combines the power of carbon steel with the easy upkeep of stainless steel. This beautiful knife has a Blue II carbon steel edge surrounded by two layers of bead-blasted stainless steel. This san mai stainless steel shield, in a Narukami (meaning "thunderbolt" in Japanese) pattern helps prevent corrosion, hide scratches and prevent food from sticking. The advantages of the carbon core are remarkable. This Blue II carbon steel takes a very fine edge and holds it for hours of food prep. When it does need to be honed or sharpened, it is easily restored to a fine, razor-sharp edge. Carbon steel is the blade material preferred by professional chefs. Making this Narukami knife even more practical (and beautiful) are its full tang construction and durable micarta handles. The utility knife is perfect for many small tasks that require precise cuts. It's versatile enough to peel an onion in-hand, and then slice it on a board. The very nimble 6" Utility is between a chef's knife and a paring knife - featuring a narrow, straight blade with a slightly curved belly ideal for moderate rocking cuts. Sometimes called a sandwich knife, the utility knife works well on virtually everything between the bread of a sandwich - from thin-skinned vegetables to meats and cheeses. CARING FOR YOUR NARUKAMI KNIFE: To maintain your Narukami knife, clean and dry the blade immediately after use. This will help prevent corrosion and rust. Over time, the carbon steel core and edge will darken and develop a patina. When this happens, the beautiful thunderbolt san mai pattern of the stainless steel over the carbon steel will become even more visible.  Features of the Shun Narukami 6" Utility Knife: Blue II Carbon Steel Cutting Core and Blade Edge Bead Blasted San Mai Stainless Steel Shield Surrounding the Cutting Core 3 Layer Blade Construction Thunderbolt San Mai Pattern Full Tang Construction Micarta Handles Blade Length: 6 inches Engraving: Up to 10 characters can be laser engraved on this utility knife.
