Backstory / History The shemagh — also known as a keffiyeh or Arab scarf — has been worn across the Middle East and Central Asia for centuries as protection against sun, wind, and sand. Adopted widely by Western special operations forces during the Global War on Terror, the shemagh became a signature accessory of operators working alongside local forces in Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, and beyond. Shemagh Soldier 1 captures the look of a soldier who has adapted to his environment — part local, part operator, entirely effective. A must-have for GWOT-era, Middle Eastern theater, and irregular forces diorama builds.
