Excessive heating or repeated temperature fluctuations may contribute to a grainy or uneven texture in the finished product. Step 01Measure by Weight Weigh the Shea Butter and all other formulation ingredients for accurate, repeatable results. Step 02Melt Gently Use a double boiler or controlled water bath and heat only until the butter has melted fully. Step 03Blend & Cool Consistently Mix with the remaining ingredients, add heat-sensitive materials during cool-down, and use a consistent cooling method. For DIY Makers & Formulators Suggested starting ranges are 20–80% for body butters, 5–30% for balms and salves, 10–40% for lotion or massage bars, 5–20% for lip care, 10–50% for hand or foot care, 2–15% for emulsified creams, and 5–25% for beard balms. Blend with liquid oils, other butters, or waxes to adjust glide and firmness. Melt completely and cool consistently to help reduce graininess.
