Inspired by the ebb and flow of oceanic tides, this piece was created entirely freehand through my practice of meditative repetition. Each dot and line is hand-piped in heavy-body acrylic, building a sculptural surface that captures both light and movement. Rooted in South Indian kolam and rangoli traditions, the mandala translates ephemeral ritual geometry into a permanent, tactile experience. At its heart lies a luminous dichroic glass center, from which intricate floral and wave-like forms radiate outward. This expansion reflects a sense of emotional depth and balance, mirroring the cooling energy of the sea. The palette features a subtle blending of blue and pearlescent white pigments that shift with the changing light. From a distance, the symmetry appears effortless; up close, the evidence of the hand becomes visible—the deliberate, intentional piping that makes each petal unique.
