Serapi Handwoven Tribal Rug, J69760

Introducing the exquisite Afghani Serapi tribal rug - a true masterpiece of fine craftsmanship. This rug, with its origins in Afghanistan, is a testament to the skill and artistry of the ethnic Turkmen weavers, particularly from the Esari subtribe. The design of this rug is a splendid representation of the Serapi style, known for its bold and intricate patterns. The background color of this rug is a pristine ivory, beautifully complemented by a peach border, adding a touch of warmth and vibrancy to the overall aesthetic. Crafted with meticulous care, this rug is made using high-quality materials. The pile is made of wool, sourced from sheep in the Ghazni Province of South East Afghanistan, where the mountainous terrain contributes to the production of longer staple, oily wool. This raw Ghazni wool is then transported to the western side of Afghanistan, near Herat, where it undergoes the delicate process of hand carding and spinning, transforming it into lustrous carpet yarn fit for weaving. The weaving process takes place on traditional floor looms, often in the weavers' own homes, making use of the cottage industry type of production. The asymmetric "Persian" knot type is employed, lending durability and strength to the rug. The warp and weft are made of cotton, while the pile consists entirely of wool, resulting in a harmonious blend of materials that enhance both durability and aesthetic appeal. This rug stands out not only for its stunning design but also for its use of centuries-old all-natural dye stuffs. The vibrant colors you see have been meticulously achieved through the skillful application of these dyes, showcasing the weavers' deep appreciation for traditional methods. Measuring 8'0" x 10'0", this rug is a generous size, perfect for gracing any living space with its beauty. With a knots per square inch (KPSI) of 80, our expert calculations reveal that this rug boasts an impressive 910,453 individually hand-tied knots in total. This meticulous attention to detail ensures that this rug not only serves as a stunning decor piece but also as a lasting testament to traditional rug-making techniques. Bring the timeless elegance and cultural richness of the Afghani Serapi rug into your home, and experience the exquisite craftsmanship firsthand.
