September Continuing Wheel I Ceramics Class

Overview Learn what else is possible on the potter's wheel and refine the skills you learned in Beginning Wheel. This class is recommended for advanced beginners and intermediate level potters who feel comfortable with the throwing process; see below for more information. This is a condensed month-long class which will meet for two hours each week for a total of four sessions, with open studio time every day for you to practice on your own. See the class schedule below. Continuing Wheel I and II are designed to be taken in any order - you do not need to have attended CWI in order to register for CWII, vice versa. All classes for September will begin after Labor Day Weekend; starting on Tuesday, September 8th. Location Still Life Studio 850 Pico Blvd Santa Monica, CA 90405  Class Outline Challenge yourself and learn how to throw bigger, more complex, and more stable forms efficiently. Week 1: Throwing review: bowls  Week 2: Plates + trimming review Week 3: Donuts/double walled bowls (or citrus juicers, chip and dip bowls, etc.) Week 4: Glazing To get the most out of this class, you should feel comfortable with all of the steps and processes you learned in the four week Beginning Wheel course, and can somewhat reliably wedge, center, and throw 2.5-3 lbs of clay. Typically, students take Beginning Wheel twice before taking Continuing Wheel.  In addition to the weekly class meetings, we have open hours seven days a week for you to come in and work on your own. Continuing Wheel students should bring their own clay, tools, and bats (we recommend at least four 12" bats). We have a supply shop at the studio where you can purchase these things if you need them. The course fee includes firing for up to 12 pieces under 12" in any direction.
