SELF-MADE MONSTERS

Women don't just make great victims, survivors, and final girls in horror stories--they make great villains, too. A woman cursing her murdering husband from the grave. A restaurant hostess literally falling apart as she tries and fails to be a complete, competent adult. A starlet turned wax figure. A mother ready to do battle with a creature she can't describe in order to save her daughter. A dockside sex worker who sailors would die for. Meet these ladies and more in SELF-MADE MONSTERS, a collection of 19 feminist horrors in story and narrative verse. With touches of humor added here and there to pierce the darkness, Rebecca Cuthbert takes readers on a journey that may just redefine their concepts of femininity and what it takes to be a woman in this world.  And remember, ladies: smile with teeth.
