Care & cleansingSelenite is very soft (about 2 on the Mohs scale) and water-soluble, so keep it completely dry — water will dissolve, cloud, or flake the surface, and it should never be rinsed, soaked, or used to make a crystal elixir. Dust it with a soft, dry cloth and keep it away from humid rooms like bathrooms. Cleanse it — and let it cleanse your other crystals — with moonlight or smoke, never water. Frequently asked questionsWhat is a selenite cube used for? It is traditionally used for cleansing a space and recharging other crystals. Many people keep one as a calm desk or altar piece; it is a decorative, symbolic piece, not a health product or medical device. Can selenite go in water? No — it dissolves. Selenite is water-soluble, so never rinse, soak, or wet it; keep it completely dry and wipe away dust with a soft cloth. Is selenite safe for daily display or sunlight? Yes, it's fine to display every day. Sunlight won't dissolve it the way water does, but gentle, indirect light is kindest to the surface over time. How do I cleanse and charge a selenite cube? Selenite is traditionally considered self-cleansing, so it rarely needs more than a reset in moonlight or a pass through incense smoke — never water. How can I tell if selenite is real? Genuine selenite is soft enough to scratch lightly with a fingernail, shows fine fibrous striations along its faces, and feels light and slightly waxy. What pairs well with a selenite cube? Selenite pairs with almost anything, since it is traditionally used to cleanse and charge other stones — try it alongside pieces from intuition and spirituality or the wider crystals & stones collection.
