Security Brands 27-240 Edge E4 Smart Controller

Weather-Resistant Wiegand Controller for Two Access Points The Security Brands 27-240 Edge E4 is a weather-resistant smart access controller for gates, doors, parking areas, and controlled entry points. It is the controller model in the Security Brands Edge 27 Series and is used when the access devices are installed separately from the control board. Unlike an all-in-one reader such as the Edge E2, the Edge E4 is not the card reader or keypad itself. It is the controller that receives credential data from external Wiegand devices, checks programmed users, permissions, timers, and schedules, then activates Relay A or Relay B to control the connected gate operator, door opener, lock circuit, or access device. The 27-240 supports two Wiegand inputs and can control up to two gates or doors. This makes it a good fit for layouts where a property has a few entry points and the installer wants separate keypads, prox readers, card readers, remotes, or long-range vehicle tag readers wired back to a protected controller enclosure. In a typical installation, the Edge E4 is powered by the included 12-VDC adapter or a compatible 12 to 24VAC/DC power source. External Wiegand readers wire into Wiegand 1 and Wiegand 2 using +12V, ground, Data 0, Data 1, LED 1, and LED 2 terminals. Relay A and Relay B then wire to the gate operator or door controller input, commonly using N/O and COM to trigger an open, radio, access, or similar input. Event and digital inputs can be used for request-to-exit devices, door switches, alarm contacts, and supported accessory functions. Programming and management can be handled through the Edge Smart Keypad app over Bluetooth or directly from the internal programming pad. The app is for administrator use, not end-user mobile access, and gives the installer or property manager local control of users, access permissions, schedules, relay behavior, and reports. It can manage up to two gates or doors, accept two Wiegand access devices, and activate onboard relays to trigger gate operators, door openers, locks, or control circuits. For single entry points where the reader and controller should be built into one post-mounted unit, the Edge E2 reader models may be a better fit. For two access points with separate reader placement, the Edge E4 is the controller option in the Edge family. Cut Sheet Installation / User Manual
