Security Brands 27-220HID Edge E2 Smart Prox Reader

HID Proximity Access Control for Gates and Doors The Security Brands 27-220HID Edge E2 is a smart HID prox reader and stand-alone access control unit for gated entrances, doors, parking areas, and controlled perimeter access points. It uses the Edge E2 platform with Bluetooth administrator app management, onboard relay control, and local programming through the included internal programming pad. The 27-220HID can operate without a separate access controller. It stores credentials, checks user permissions and schedules, then activates Relay A or Relay B when an approved HID credential, transmitter, remote, vehicle tag, or connected Wiegand device is accepted. This makes it useful for single-entry locations or two controlled openings where the HID reader and access controller are needed at the same entry point. For larger properties, the Edge family also supports a controller-based layout. The Security Brands Edge E4 27-240 is the dedicated controller option for installations where separate Wiegand readers, keypads, or access devices are wired back to a controller. The 27-220HID is the all-in-one HID smart prox reader option, while the Edge E4 is better suited when the system design calls for separate reader placement and centralized relay control. In a typical gate installation, the 27-220HID is powered by the included 12-VDC power supply or a compatible 12 to 24VAC/DC source. Relay A is commonly wired from N/O and COM to the gate operator’s open, radio, access, or similar input and common terminal. Relay B can be wired the same way to a second gate, door, lock control circuit, or access device. Exact terminal names vary by operator, so the gate operator or door opener wiring diagram should always be followed.
