Seaglass Rose

Seaglass Rosé is a Central Coast California rosé wine blending Pinot Noir and Syrah grapes, bottled at 750ml with approximately 12–13.5% ABV. The 2021 vintage earned Gold medals at both the TEXSOM International Wine Awards and the California State Fair, along with a 91-point score from critics—an impressive showing for a widely available, value-tier pink wine. Quick Facts: ABV: 12–13.5%  |  Origin: Monterey County, Central Coast, California  |  Varietal: Pinot Noir & Syrah  |  Producer: Trinchero Family Estates Production & Heritage Seaglass falls under the Trinchero Family Estates portfolio, one of the largest family-owned wine companies in the United States. What separates this rosé from much of its competition at the shelf is a commitment to using entirely free-run juice—no pressed grapes enter the blend. That technique yields a softer, lighter-bodied wine with more delicate aromatics. The winemaking team also forgoes malolactic fermentation, a deliberate choice that preserves the wine's bright acidity and fragrant floral character rather than rounding it into a creamier style. Tasting Notes Aroma: Brisk watermelon leads the nose, followed by orange rose petal and a distinctive chalk-like minerality. Underneath, tart wild strawberry and dried rose petals add a fragrant, almost perfumed quality. Taste: The entry is rounded and fruit-forward, with watermelon and ripe strawberry arriving first. Mid-palate, energetic acidity takes hold and drives flavors of juicy cherry and raspberry through a tightly wound, chalky texture. A subtle soil-like minerality emerges toward the peak, adding unexpected complexity for a wine at this price point. Finish: Crisp and clean, with lingering notes of peach and lemon zest. The finish is moderate in length, leaving a dry, refreshing impression that invites the next sip. How to Drink Seaglass Rosé Serve well-chilled, around 45–50°F, to highlight the wine's bright acidity and watermelon aromatics. A stemmed wine glass with a slight taper concentrates the delicate floral nose. Seaglass Rosé also works well in warm-weather cocktails: try it in a Frosé, where the chalky minerality adds backbone to the frozen slush; in a Rosé Spritz with elderflower liqueur and sparkling water, which amplifies the floral aromatics; or in a French Summer Sangria with fresh stone fruit and a splash of brandy, where the wine's strawberry and melon notes integrate naturally with the added fruit. Best For Bringing to a summer patio gathering or backyard barbecue Serving as a crowd-pleasing pour at casual dinner parties Stocking a weeknight wine rotation without stretching the budget Gifting to someone exploring California rosé wines for the first time Frequently Asked Questions What does Seaglass Rosé taste like? Seaglass Rosé delivers rounded watermelon and strawberry flavors supported by a chalky, mineral-driven grip and bright acidity. Subtle notes of cherry, peach, and lemon zest emerge on the palate, finishing crisp and dry. How does Seaglass Rosé compare to Meiomi Rosé? Both are California rosés built on Pinot Noir, but Seaglass runs lighter and crisper due to its exclusive use of free-run juice and the absence of malolactic fermentation. Meiomi Rosé tends toward a fuller body and slightly richer mouthfeel, while Seaglass emphasizes minerality and bright acidity. Is Seaglass Rosé good for beginners? Yes—its approachable fruit-forward profile, moderate alcohol, and clean finish make it an easy entry point for anyone new to dry rosé wines. The crisp acidity keeps it refreshing without being tart or challenging. Where is Seaglass Rosé made? Seaglass Rosé is produced by Trinchero Family Estates using grapes sourced from Monterey County on California's Central Coast, a region known for cool maritime breezes that preserve bright acidity in the fruit. What foods pair well with Seaglass Rosé? Grilled shrimp or salmon benefit from the wine's bright acidity cutting through richness. Caprese salad mirrors its fresh berry and floral notes. Soft goat cheese echoes the chalky minerality. Light charcuterie boards with prosciutto complement the strawberry and melon flavors. Sushi, especially salmon or tuna rolls, pairs well thanks to the wine's clean, dry finish. What sizes does Seaglass Rosé come in? Seaglass Rosé is widely available in the standard 750ml bottle. Is Seaglass Rosé worth the price? Seaglass Rosé positions squarely in the value tier, and the 91-point score and dual Gold medals earned by the 2021 vintage suggest it punches above its weight class. For an everyday California rosé, the quality-to-price ratio is strong. Why Seaglass Rosé? The exclusive use of free-run juice is the defining production decision here—it is a technique more commonly associated with premium rosé producers in Provence than with affordable California bottles. That choice, combined with the decision to skip malolactic fermentation, gives Seaglass a precision and freshness that most wines at this price tier simply do not achieve. The 2021 vintage's Gold medals at TEXSOM and the California State Fair, along with its 91-point critical score, back up the quality with independent validation. For anyone seeking a reliable, mineral-driven California rosé without paying a premium markup, Seaglass consistently delivers.
