Screaming Eagle 2020 Cabernet Sauvignon

The 2020 Screaming Eagle Cabernet Sauvignon comes from a vintage marked by significant challenges in Napa Valley, particularly due to wildfires, which impacted many wineries. However, Screaming Eagle’s commitment to quality and rigorous selection processes ensured that the 2020 release remains an exceptional wine, though production was likely reduced as a result of the difficult conditions. Despite the adversity, the wine showcases remarkable finesse and precision, reflecting the estate’s mastery in winemaking. On the nose, the 2020 vintage offers a bouquet of ripe black fruits, such as blackberries, black cherries, and cassis, along with floral hints of violets. Subtle aromas of graphite, cedar, and mocha provide additional depth, with a touch of dried herbs and earthy undertones that give the wine a complex aromatic profile. On the palate, the 2020 Screaming Eagle delivers a rich, full-bodied texture, with velvety tannins that are perfectly balanced by fresh acidity. Dark fruit flavors like blackberry and blackcurrant dominate, interwoven with nuances of dark chocolate, espresso, and sweet spices. Despite the richness of the fruit, the wine retains a sense of elegance and precision, with a layered complexity that unfolds gradually. The finish is long and smooth, with lingering notes of crushed berries, cocoa, and a touch of minerality. While the 2020 vintage may not have the same level of power as previous years due to the challenging growing season, it still stands as a testament to Screaming Eagle’s meticulous winemaking and ability to produce wines of exceptional quality even in tough conditions. It will reward both early drinking and patient cellaring. Vintage: 2020 Size: 750 mL
