Traditional Pot Distillation – Preserves the bold, full-bodied mouthfeel and enhances esters and congeners that contribute to a well-rounded whiskey. Aging in Oak Casks – Scottish whisky is aged in ex-bourbon, sherry, or wine barrels, imparting flavors of vanilla, spice, dried fruit, and oak. Peated vs. Unpeated Varieties – Some Scottish whiskies feature a light to heavy smoke character, achieved by drying malted barley over peat fires before mashing. More About Scottish Whisky Scottish whisky, is a malt-forward, full-bodied spirit that embodies centuries of distilling tradition. Made primarily from malted barley, it is distilled in copper pot stills to preserve its rich complexity before aging in oak casks for depth and character. Whisky vs. Whiskey: What’s the Difference? The difference between whisky and whiskey primarily comes down to geography and tradition: Whisky (no "e") – Used in Scotland, Canada, and Japan. Whiskey (with "e") – Used in Ireland and the United States. Why the Difference? The spelling variation dates back to the 19th century, when Irish distillers added an "e" to distinguish their whiskey from Scottish whisky. This convention was later adopted by American distillers.
