Scent + Memory: Candle Making Workshop 📍 Black Citizens Brigade 140 Bank Alley, University Building, Syracuse, NY 13202 What does a memory smell like? Join Wick.ed Aromas at Black Citizens Brigade for a hands-on candle-making experience exploring the connection between scent, memory, and personal stories. Bring a photograph of someone meaningful to you, whether it’s a loved one, an ancestor, or someone whose memory you carry with you. If you don’t have a photograph, we’ll have a selection of archival images available. We’ll begin with a short reflection and writing exercise inspired by your photograph. You might think of cinnamon tea in the kitchen, a favourite cologne, fresh laundry, worn leather, sea air, warm soil, or another scent connected to the person or memory. From there, you’ll explore fragrance notes and learn the basics of scent blending before creating your own 10-oz hand-poured candle inspired by your memory. No prior candle-making or fragrance experience is needed. This is a space to slow down, create, and honour the people and memories that shape us through scent and storytelling.
