Scarpa F1 XT Touring Boot

100-Flex Ski Mountaineering Boot Scarpa F1 XT Touring Boot Ski mountaineers who count grams and still expect to ski the descent are who the Scarpa F1 XT is built for. A 100 flex on a 100 mm last drives an 85 mm ski on firm snow better than the weight suggests, helped by a Carbon Grilamid LFT cuff. At 1,145 g per boot the Scarpa F1 XT is a genuine fast-and-light shell, and the two-buckle Wave LT closure is the reason it holds the foot better than the BOA-equipped boots it replaced. Expert Fit Review Fit profile and recommendations reviewed by CCBB bootfitters. Is This the Right Boot for You? Best For Ski mountaineers on low-volume feet running pin bindings and skis 80 to 100 mm underfoot who prioritise weight over shell stiffness. Consider Another Boot If You need any binding other than pin/tech, want a stiffer shell for wide skis, or have a wide forefoot or high instep. Two buckles with the Wave LT closure hold the forefoot more firmly and adjust more predictably than the BOA system used on the F1 LT. A Carbon Grilamid LFT cuff, a carbon-reinforced nylon, adds torsional stiffness where an ultralight shell usually goes vague. The Overlap Shield Tech gaiter, a fabric cover over the shell, keeps snow out without the bulk of a conventional tongue. Best Uses Ski mountaineering and technical descents Long high-mileage tours and traverses Skis 80 to 100 mm underfoot Spring couloirs and firm snow Skiers who prioritise weight over shell stiffness Bootfitter's Advice The Scarpa F1 XT runs a 100 mm last and is low volume through the forefoot and instep. Note that the Scarpa F1 XT is offered in whole Mondo sizes only, from 24 to 31, so half-size feet need a shell fit to decide which way to go rather than a conversion. A Grilamid Fiber Glass LFT shell, a glass-reinforced nylon, punches less predictably than a plain Grilamid shell because the glass fibre resists deformation. Expect modest correction rather than a large punch, and plan on molding the Intuition Cross Fit Tour LT liner, a heat-moldable foam liner. Fit profile reviewed by CCBB bootfitters. Final sizing should be confirmed with a shell fit whenever possible. 📏 Technical Specifications Manufacturer specs · Click to expand Fit and Construction Weight 1,145 g per boot (size 27) Last 100 mm Flex 100 Shell Grilamid Fiber Glass LFT, a glass-reinforced nylon Cuff Carbon Grilamid LFT, a carbon-reinforced nylon Tongue Synthetic, with an Overlap Shield Tech gaiter Features and Compatibility Walk Mode Speed Lock ski/walk mechanism Range of Motion Not published by Scarpa for the current F1 XT Closure Two buckles with a Wave LT closure and a Power Strap Light Binding Compatibility Pin/tech (low-tech) bindings only. Construction, closure and sole are shared. Size and calf shape decide between them. Shop Scarpa F1 XT W boots F1 XT vs. Scarpa F1 RS The Scarpa F1 RS is the stiffer, heavier addition to the F1 line, using a BOA H+1 closure and an Overlap Flow Construction for a higher flex rating. The Scarpa F1 XT stays lighter and keeps a buckle closure. Confirm the sole norm on the Scarpa F1 RS separately before assuming binding compatibility carries over. Shop Scarpa F1 RS boots F1 XT vs. Scarpa Alien The Scarpa Alien is the skimo race boot in the line, lighter and far softer, built for racing rather than descending. The Scarpa F1 XT carries more shell and more flex for skiers who want to ski hard after a long climb. Shop Scarpa Alien boots Common Questions What bindings work with the Scarpa F1 XT? Pin/tech (low-tech) bindings only. Scarpa lists the Scarpa F1 XT binding system as TLT, and the Vibram UFO LT outsole does not meet ISO 5355, ISO 9523 or GripWalk ISO 23223. That means the Scarpa F1 XT is not compatible with alpine bindings, frame bindings, or MNC bindings of any kind. Do not mount this boot to anything but a pin binding. Does the Scarpa F1 XT use a BOA closure? No. The Scarpa F1 XT closes with two buckles, the Wave LT cable closure and a Power Strap Light. Some listings still describe a BOA Fit System on this model, which belongs to the F1 LT. Scarpa moved deliberately away from BOA on the Scarpa F1 XT, and the buckle holds the forefoot with more force. Is there a mounting adjustment for the Scarpa F1 XT? Yes. Scarpa specifies an Optimized Touring Pivot of 1 mm for the Scarpa F1 XT, meaning the tech toe piece is mounted 1 mm rearward of the standard position toward the heel. Give this figure to whoever mounts the binding. How much does the Scarpa F1 XT weigh? Scarpa lists 1,145 g per boot at size 27. That puts the Scarpa F1 XT between a skimo race boot and a standard touring boot, 400 g per boot under the Scarpa Maestrale RS. What sizes does the Scarpa F1 XT come in? Whole Mondo sizes only, 24 through 31. Unlike the Maestrale and Gea shells, the Scarpa F1 XT has no half sizes, so a shell fit matters more than usual when a foot falls between two sizes. What is the range of motion on the Scarpa F1 XT? Scarpa does not publish a cuff rotation figure on the current Scarpa F1 XT listing. Earlier F1 material cited 72 degrees. We leave the number open rather than carry forward a figure Scarpa has stopped publishing. Our Verdict The Scarpa F1 XT is the boot for skiers whose day is decided on the way up and who still want to ski the descent properly. At 1,145 g per boot with a 100 flex on a 100 mm last, the Scarpa F1 XT gives up shell stiffness to a Maestrale and gains 400 g per boot back. The two-buckle Wave LT closure is a real improvement over the BOA system it replaced. One hard limit decides whether the Scarpa F1 XT fits your setup; pin/tech bindings are the only option.
