Sauna Elf - "Ilona"

The sauna Elf or “Saunatonttu” are the guardian spirits of the sauna. In Finnish folklore, each sauna is said to have one living inside; they watch over sauna goers, protecting its warmth and embodying the principles of purity, respect and harmony within the sauna. Keep them happy by respecting the sauna as a sacred space, be peaceful and kind towards others in the sauna – no shouting or arguing, do not enter the sauna dirty, and keep the sauna clean and well maintained. If the sauna elf is unhappy then some say that will make your sauna experience less rejuvenating. By inviting a sauna elf in is a reminder to everyone who enters that the sauna is a place to leave the hustle of everyday life at the door, encouraging us to slow down, respect our surroundings and embrace the warm restorative prowess of a well-kept sauna. Key Features: The sauna elf is at home inside the sauna, meant to sit on a bench or a ledge to watch over everyone who enters the sauna. Covered in pine tar it adds a rich, smokey scent reminiscent of a classic Finnish sauna. They can also be recovered in Tar once the scent has gone away. A great reminder to those who enter that the sauna is a place for relaxation and rejuvenation. Honor a Finnish Tradition and invite good spirits into your sauna.
