Sandalwood Wrist Mala (Various Chords)

This sandalwood mala is one of the most popular malas in spiritual practice, revered for its cooling and pacifying qualities. Sandalwood has been praised in Buddhist, Hindu, and Jain texts for its calming effects, making it ideal for meditation, prayer, and spiritual focus. In Vajrayana Buddhist texts, sandalwood malas are considered suitable for all types of practices, including those focused on pacifying, increasing, magnetizing, or destroying. This versatility makes sandalwood malas highly valued by Vajrayana Buddhists in Tibet, Nepal, the Himalayan region, China, Japan, and Korea. There are several types of sandalwood, native to regions including South Asia (India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka), as well as Australia, Indonesia, and Hawaii. The most famous variety is Indian sandalwood, which grows in South India. However, due to concerns about overharvesting and the threat of extinction, Indian sandalwood is not sold here. Symbolism & Meaning Sandalwood is associated with purity, tranquility, and spiritual awakening. Its calming properties help maintain a clear and peaceful mind during meditation, while its versatility allows it to support various types of practices, from pacifying to transformative.
