KBD/Willett Sam Houston Very Small Batch Kentucky Bourbon

Experience the approachable elegance of Sam Houston Very Small Batch, a handcrafted Kentucky bourbon bottled at a gentle 85.6 proof. This "Rare Old Bourbon" offers a delightful symphony of vanilla, caramel, and oak, culminating in a smooth and satisfying finish. Perfect for those who appreciate nuanced flavors in a mellow, easy-drinking spirit. Tasting Notes Nose: A gentle and inviting bouquet unfolds with notes of sweet corn and vanilla bean, characteristic of a well-matured bourbon. Subtle hints of caramel and butterscotch emerge, intertwined with a faint wisp of toasted oak and a delicate floral undertone, perhaps honeysuckle or orange blossom. The low proof keeps the alcohol vapor at bay, allowing these nuanced aromas to truly shine. Palate: The palate is surprisingly rich for its proof, offering a pleasingly smooth and mellow texture. Sweetness leads the charge, with creamy vanilla, brown sugar, and a touch of ripe stone fruit like apricot or peach. A gentle spice develops mid-palate, hinting at nutmeg and a whisper of white pepper, balanced by a comforting oak presence that isn't overpowering. There's a delicate interplay between the sweetness and a subtle, almost leathery earthiness, suggesting some age despite being NAS. Finish: The finish is medium in length, clean, and quite elegant. The sweetness gracefully fades, leaving behind a lingering warmth of soft oak, a whisper of vanilla, and a faint echo of that gentle spice. It's not particularly bold or complex, but rather a pleasant and approachable conclusion, inviting another sip.
