Drexel University LVR Student Low Vision Simulator Kit

Salus University Low Vision Rehabilitation Program This kit is designed exclusively for graduate students in low vision rehabilitation. It is a "budget" kit -- every effort was made to provide as much functionality as possible at the lowest cost. Sales are restricted to those currently enrolled in the Salus LVR program. The kit will allow you to simulate approximate VAs of 20/600 and 20/800, as well as visual fields of 10 and 5 degrees. There are enough materials for each acuity or field to be simulated in both eyes at the same time. This means that there are twice as many occluding films as needed. In other words, the kit effectively comes with built in spare parts. The low vision simulator is intended to be worn over one’s glasses. Kit contains: Vinyl goggle (1) polycarbonate lenses (6) black occluding films (2) (4 tactile dots)* 10 degree visual field (2) occluding films(2 tactile dots)* 5 degree visual field occluding films (2) (3 tactile dots)* “Red Dot” occluding films (4) (no tactile markings)* “Black Dot” occluding films (2) (1 tactile dot)* * Tactile markings included only by special request and are not found on all sets Occluding films can be interchanged by unscrewing the outer hard plastic “collar” of the goggle, removing the 3 polycarbonate (hard plastic) lenses from each side. One of the hard plastic lenses serves as a “spacer” to prevent the constricted visual field materials from rotating when the lens is reassembled. P occluding materials between the two lenses with the desired occluding materials, and replacing the collar back onto the goggle. CAUTION: the occluding films are easily charged with static electricity and may attach themselves to one’s clothing or other nearby surfaces, making them difficult to locate.
