Saint Elizabeth's Three Crowns

From the Vision Books series of saints for young readers (Ignatius Press), chosen by Guadalupe Roastery for Catholic families who read together. Author: Blanche Jennings Thompson. St. Elizabeth of Hungary lived her sainthood differently: not in poverty like St. Francis, but in a castle surrounded by wealth. Engaged at four, sent far from home to live with her husband-to-be, ridiculed by those who envied her holiness, she found ways to slip into the chapel and visit Jesus. As a Third Order Franciscan she gave away her jewels, her clothes and the castle’s grain, and Jesus provided every time. Only four years after her death she was canonized. Illustrated; cover art by Chris Pelicano. Format: paperback Ages: 9–15
