SA Motorsport Selectric

Laguna Seca, 1987. The first time I slipped behind the wheel of a Ford GT in Gulf livery, the scent of high-octane racing fuel mixing with warm California eucalyptus should have been intoxicating. Instead, all I could think about was how perfectly those powder blue and marigold orange racing stripes would translate to keycaps. Years later, when madmax13 presented this homage to both the legendary Gulf livery and IBM's Selectric typewriter, I knew we had found something extraordinary. The ABS plastic we mold in our Custer workshop may smell nothing like racing fuel, but it carries the same promise of precision engineering and uncompromising performance. These aren't merely keycaps paying tribute to motorsports history—they're a love letter to the golden age of both racing and typing, when IBM's Selectric typewriters ruled executive desks with the same authority that Gulf-liveried GT40s commanded Le Mans. Our SA profile, that towering monument to spherical perfection, proves itself once again the ideal canvas for such iconic colorways. The WFV cream base channels the vintage white of racing numbers, while BFJ blue captures that legendary powder blue that made Gulf livery instantly recognizable from the grandstands to the silver screen. The OBR orange accent strikes with the intensity of victory lane celebrations and the satisfying thock of a perfectly-molded modifier key. Every set that emerges from our machines carries the DNA of both inspirations—the meticulous craftsmanship that put men on podiums and the engineering excellence that revolutionized the modern office. When your fingers find these keys, you're not just typing; you're channeling the spirit of every gear change through the Corkscrew, every carriage return that sealed a business deal, every moment when precision met passion. Because in the end, whether you're chasing lap records or word counts, excellence demands the proper tools. Big credit to https://switchbox.studio for his help in designing this.
