He proudly displays a flowing beard, long, twisting body, clawed feet, and horned head - all traditional features of dragons in Japanese mythology.  Japanese dragons, known as ryū or tatsu (龍, 竜), can first be found in Japanese mythology dating all the way back to the late 7th century AD. Ancient stories of tatsu often tell of these mystical beings serving as deities of land, sky, and sea, who guarded these realms with their lives. The presence of a Japanese ryu in your Zen garden brings wisdom, courage, and protection to you and your home. Statue Details Product is handmade by skilled artisans.
