Ry Armchair

The Eikund Ry Armchair, designed by Norwegian designer Sven Ivar Dysthe in 1961, merges exceptional craftsmanship with timeless design. Made primarily from solid wood, the chair boasts a production process that allows for efficiency, with both the dining and armchair versions sharing many components. Only minor modifications, such as the addition of armrests, are needed. One standout feature of the Eikund Ry Armchair is the connection between the backrest and horizontal leg stretcher, a detail that enhances the overall design. The Ry Armchair is renowned for its voluminous upholstery, which provides superior comfort while maintaining its status as a true 1960s classic. The combination of solid wood and luxurious materials ensures the chair is not only functional but stylish. Its design focuses on both aesthetic appeal and durability, allowing it to easily complement modern and traditional interiors. The brilliance of Dysthe’s design is evident in the seamless connection between the backrest and horizontal stretcher, which remains a defining feature of the piece. Eikund, a Norwegian design company, specializes in reviving mid-century modern classics, and the Ry Armchair is one of their most notable pieces. By embracing sustainable practices and focusing on top-quality craftsmanship, Eikund ensures each piece is timeless and relevant. The Ry Armchair, along with other iconic designs, represents the company’s dedication to blending tradition with innovation. With its minimalist elegance and functional design, Eikund furniture continues to celebrate Norway’s rich design heritage while appealing to modern tastes.
