Russian Birch Botanical Carryall | Global Pride Botanicals

Carry endurance, identity, and history wherever the day takes you. The Russian Birch Botanical Carryall transforms an archival-inspired botanical illustration into a spacious everyday bag framed by rich brown faux-leather handles and trim. Across the warm ivory background, multiple birch branches intersect and extend in different directions, creating an organic composition inspired by a living woodland rather than a formal wreath. Natural green foliage is joined by carefully integrated leaves in red, orange, yellow, blue, violet and pink—an understated expression of LGBTQ+ Pride woven into the landscape. The Meaning of the Russian Birch The birch—берёза (beryoza) in Russian—occupies a meaningful place in Russian culture. Its recognizable white trunk has appeared throughout Russian painting, poetry, music, folklore, and traditional craft. Birch bark was historically used to make practical objects and also served as a writing material, connecting the tree with both everyday life and the preservation of human experience. In cultural imagery, the birch has come to evoke endurance, renewal, light and a deep connection to place. Its ability to survive severe winters and return each spring makes it an especially meaningful symbol for identities that persist despite efforts to conceal, diminish or silence them. Unlike the laurel-style wreaths found in the Global Pride Botanicals apparel collection, this carryall features multiple independent branches that cross, overlap, and continue growing beyond the edges of the bag. Their intertwined paths represent lives shaped by different cultures and experiences—distinct from one another, yet connected through resilience, dignity and Pride. Part of the Walt & Pete® Global Pride Botanicals collection, this design celebrates the enduring relationship between culture, nature and LGBTQ+ identity.
