Rumex sanguineus Bloody Sorrel

Rumex sanguineus, grown for its beautiful foliage, has long, rippled green leaves that are deeply veined with reddish-purple. Also known as Bloody Sorrel or Red-Veined Dock, Rumex sanguineus is a taprooted perennial that forms a rosette of evergreen leaves. Although it produces stalks of tiny green flowers, these are typically removed to prevent self-sowing and to encourage new leaf growth. Rumex sanguineus prefers sun to light shade and moderately fertile, moist to wet soil, including clay. Do not allow it to dry out. It can also be used as a bog plant or in shallow water.
