Round the World

6C Ascott R. Hope. London: Blackie & Son Limited, 1900s.  Notes Round the World by Ascott R. Hope is an early 20th‑century children’s picture book written under the name of Scottish author Robert Hope Moncrieff, who often used the pseudonym Ascott R. Hope for his juvenile and travel‑themed works. Moncrieff was a prolific writer of children’s fiction, guidebooks, and general interest titles in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, and his use of “Ascott R. Hope” was likely a playful pun on his Scottish roots. Round the World spans about 84 pages and is illustrated with 13 color plates, three of which are double‑page, making it a richly visual Edwardian children’s book. The narrative typically centers on introducing young readers to different parts of the world through engaging descriptions and illustrations, inviting curiosity about geography and cultures far beyond their everyday experience. Description Hardback with clear protective dust jacket. Fading and scuffing to boards and spine. Some fraying and fading along the red spine. Chipping along extremities. Binding slightly separated but still intact. Fair condition.
