The DIY planter sizes are 24 through 60 inches in diameter, made of heavy 16 gauge carbon steel, and made to last.  Whether you’re looking to create a modern industrial look or a natural garden setting, this Corten DIY planter is the perfect choice. Sizes and Descriptions All rings are either 12 or 18 inches deep/tall. 12-inch rings have straight stakes, while 18-inch rings have a tab (1.5 inches) to allow a point to push/hammer them in. Stakes will go into the ground 3.5 inches. Stakes are included but not required for use. 24 through 38-inch sizes have 3 panels and 3 stakes.  40 through 48-inch sizes have 4 panels and 4 stakes.  50 and 60-inch sizes have 5 panels and 5 stakes.  All DIY planter rings will arrive ready to be painted, as they are sanded raw steel. Assembly It would help if you had simple hand tools (adjustable or 7/16 wrench) to assemble it. Our DIY planter is easy to assemble with just simple hand tools and carriage bolts, painted black to create a smooth, riveted look that adds a touch of industrial charm. The included ground stakes ensure it stays securely in place, making it a reliable addition to any garden. Loosely assemble the bolts and either push or hammer the stakes into the ground before finishing tightening the bolts. Its modular design allows you to place it around existing plants or trees without the need for uprooting, adding convenience and flexibility to your gardening projects. Why Corten Steel? Here’s a rundown on some of the benefits: It has a reported life span of up to 120 years! (You could pass your fire ring down to the next generation!) Corten Steel has self-healing properties. If the fire ring becomes scratched or rusty, then it has the capability to halt any further corrosion. This means that the rustic patina is a protective coating in itself! Absolutely ZERO maintenance steel – painting it would only add to the aesthetic of your backyard. Again, that rust is a protective layer. Corten Steel boasts impressive durability, with a rust rate 25 times slower than that of carbon (a.k.a. mild) steel. This reduced rusting pace ensures that Corten Steel avoids the rusty run-off often associated with carbon steel, particularly when you accelerate the rusting process. Additionally, the full rusting of a Corten Steel ring typically takes 2-6 years. You can use an accelerator (like salt water spray) to speed up the process.
