Rough Moldavite Stone

Sold Individually  Approximate Age: 15 million years .75-1.5" Moldavite, a rare and intriguing gemstone, has captivated enthusiasts and collectors with its otherworldly appearance and mysterious origins. Unlike most gemstones, Moldavite is not formed through geological processes within the Earth but is instead the result of an extraordinary extraterrestrial event.  Moldavite is classified as a type of tektite, a natural glass formed by the intense heat and pressure generated during meteorite impacts. Approximately 15 million years ago, a meteorite struck what is now the Bohemian region of the Czech Republic. This massive impact created the Ries Crater in Germany, and the heat from the collision melted the surrounding rocks, propelling molten material into the atmosphere. One of the most striking features of Moldavite is its irregular, sculpted surface, often described as "etched" or "pitted." This texture results from the intense heat and rapid cooling during its formation, as well as the subsequent erosion and weathering processes over millions of years. Moldavite's unique appearance and brilliant green color make it highly sought after for use in jewelry and as a collector's item. Moldavite is a finite resource, with known deposits primarily located in the Czech Republic. This rarity, combined with its fascinating origin story, contributes to its value and allure. Unlike gemstones formed through prolonged geological processes, Moldavite's creation was a sudden and cataclysmic event, making each piece a unique fragment of a significant cosmic occurrence. According to metaphysics: Moldavite is a stone of transformation. This fascinating gem has been here for more than 15 million years and is believed to be a great stone for bringing about shifts in energy, encouraging us to let go of negative thoughts and feelings, and untethers us from past traumas so we can move forward in life.
