The chain, which has a lobster claw clasp, can be easily removed from the bob so it can be worn as a necklace. The overall length is 7 1/2", which includes the chain, lobster, eyeball and link. The pendulum without the chain measures 1 5/8" x 7/8" The word 'pendulum' is from Modern Latin pendulum, first used around 1643. It is derived from the Latin adjective pendulus "hanging down".
