Rolling Stones by David Byrd

David Byrd's concert poster for the Rolling Stones captures the explosive collision of Art Nouveau elegance and rock and roll rebellion that defined late 1960s poster art. The central figure, a flowing-haired woman draped in diaphanous fabric, rises from an intense orange ground like a vision summoned by the music itself. Her pose and treatment pay direct homage to Alphonse Mucha, yet the psychedelic color intensity and ornamental complexity mark this firmly as a product of its revolutionary moment. The elaborate border architecture synthesizes Celtic knotwork, Islamic geometric patterns, and Art Nouveau botanical forms into a unified decorative program that frames the figure like a sacred icon. The crescent moon at the apex and the rich jewel tones of purple, blue, and gold create an atmosphere of mystical transport perfectly suited to the Stones' dark glamour. Printed by Tea Lautrec Litho in San Francisco and bearing the Stone Promotions Limited copyright, this unfolded example represents the stock version created for the band's 1969 American tour, with the blank area at bottom intended for local venue overprinting.
