ROASTED BLACK SESAME PASTE

Roasted black sesame paste delivers an intense, aromatic depth achieved by thoroughly heating whole black sesame seeds before milling them into a concentrated homogenate. The dry-roasting process triggers chemical changes in the seed oils, producing a flavor profile significantly richer than raw sesame spreads, with distinct notes of toasted nuttiness, slight bitterness, and subtle chocolate undertones. Versatile Cooking Applications Dipping Sauces: Combine with soy sauce, rice vinegar, minced garlic, and chili flakes to accompany dumplings, spring rolls, or grilled skewers. Noodle Bowls: Swirl directly into hot ramen, pho, or cold soba broths to add body and umami richness. Sweet Desserts: Incorporate into tangyuan fillings, layer between mochi wrappers, or mix into oatmeal and smoothie bowls for textural contrast. Baking Filling: Spread inside char siu bao dough or knead into tart pastry bases for a savory-sweet center. Culinary performance depends on viscosity and concentration. Products may vary based on the grind fineness and whether additional vegetable oils were added during processing to improve flow. Inspect the packaging label to verify whether the ingredient count lists solely black sesame seeds or includes emulsifiers. Natural separation of sesame oil occurs over time, particularly in paste formulations with minimal additives. Stir the contents vigorously before each use to reincorporate the solids. Store in a cool environment after opening to preserve volatile compounds and prevent rancidity.
