River Birch

Why it rocks: One of the most popular landscape trees available, River Birch is an excellent addition to any home. River Birch is grown in both the multi-stemmed clump form and single trunk form, making it one of the most versatile trees available. This versatile, fast-growing tree is valued not only for its stunning black, brown, and tan peeling bark but also for its outstanding gold fall color. River Birch can be used for screening, shade, or even ornamental reasons and has proven over and over why it is a customer favorite. Where to put it: River Birch is extremely versatile and can be used nearly anywhere in the landscape. Because of its shape, River Birch is great along property lines as a privacy screen. River Birch is also commonly used in the front or back landscape to provide accent or anchoring, or around a deck or patio to provide shade and screening. This tree should always be kept at least 15 ft away from buildings. What it needs: River Birch does exceedingly well in wet locations, but will typically thrive anywhere in the landscape given adequate water. This tree will benefit from being planted in a relatively sheltered location but is extremely low maintenance once established in the landscape.
