Ripple Sconce

The RBW Ripple Sconce uses cast solid glass and aluminum in this design where the ripple texture creates interesting light patterns across wall surfaces - each piece of cast glass has its own unique character because of how the material behaves during the casting process, including those small air bubbles that are actually part of the ASTM standards rather than flaws. What's fascinating is how dramatically different the finish options perform - Frosted puts out nearly 700 lumens while Copper gives you just 66 lumens, so you can really dial in whether you want bright task lighting or subtle accent illumination. The ripple texture becomes more or less prominent depending on which finish you choose, creating different moods and visual effects on surrounding walls. The performance specs are optimized for DC input, which gives you the numbers listed, though AC works fine if that's what your electrical setup requires. Getting 697 lumens from 10W on the Frosted version is genuinely impressive efficiency, and the 90 CRI means colors look natural rather than weird under the light. The wet location rating with IP65 protection opens up steam shower, covered outdoor, or other challenging installations where moisture would destroy lesser fixtures. ADA compliance keeps it accessible for commercial work, and the 50,000-hour lifespan means you're essentially installing permanent lighting. The LBC Red List approval is useful if you're working on projects with strict environmental or health requirements. RBW has clearly spent serious development time on this one - having a U.S. patent application approved for issuance suggests they've created something genuinely innovative rather than just another variation on existing designs. Their willingness to work with cast glass textures that create such dramatically different performance across finishes shows they're more interested in giving you real lighting options rather than just cosmetic variations. They seem focused on creating fixtures that can solve very different lighting challenges within the same basic design platform, which is way more useful than having to choose completely different fixtures for different needs.
