A favorite choice for fishing behind a hopper is the sunken ant pattern. Flying ants often land in the water after their large wings are buffeted by the wind, making them an irresistible meal for trout. RIO’s Anty Raid mimics a submerged flying ant, available with a glass bead for a lightweight, shallow-water option, and a tungsten bead to reach deeper or swifter currents. Both variants are expertly tied on barbless hooks.
