Rhum J.M Terroir Volcanique Rum

About Rhum J.M Terroir Volcanique RumRhum J.M Terroir Volcanique is a unique expression that utilizes our on-site cooperage to carry out a double-char process resulting in a complex extraction of wood flavors. Through innovative techniques of barrel toasting and blending, Master Blender Karine Lassalle is able to create a blended symphony of three year old rhums that perfectly capture the terroir of the volcano. Smoke and earth are complimented by spice and bruleed tropical fruit in this exceptional and complex spirit. Tasting Notes for Rhum J.M Terroir Volcanique RumBanana and grilled pineapple are present first on the nose followed by notes of honey, vanilla, and spice. A powerful richness is accentuated by aromas of toasted oak and hazelnut. The palate starts off round and powerful, with a subtle smokiness and toasted oak. The midpalate introduces notes of nutmeg and vanilla, complimented by grilled tropical fruit. Extremely lush mouthfeel with a pleasantly persisent finish of fruits and spice. Production NotesRhum J.M sits at the base of Mount Pelee, an active volcano on the north side of the island of Martinique. Rhum J.M is made using fresh pressed sugarcane juice, as is typical in Martinique and required to use the AOC Rhum Agricole designation. Their sugarcane grows around the distillery, benefitting from volcanic soil, and goes from harvesting to fermenation in 1 hour. Rhum J.M Terroir Volcanique is a blend of 3 year old rhums that have been aged in barrels with two different char levels ("Intense" and "Extreme") to bring out the terroir of the volcano on which Rhum J.M sits. 700ml & 86 Proof
