Quick facts Stone Rhodonite Composition Manganese silicate Hardness (Mohs) 5.5–6.5 Color Pink with black manganese veining Origin Madagascar Chakra Heart Traditionally used for Compassion, emotional balance Care / Water-safe Fairly durable; brief water contact is fine, but avoid prolonged soaking Meaning & historyIn crystal tradition, rhodonite is known as a heart stone, associated with compassion, forgiveness, and steadying the emotions. Its pink-and-black coloring is often read as a visual balance of tenderness and grounded strength, which is part of why it's a favorite among heart chakra stones. The egg form has long been used in meditation practice as a comfortable, hand-filling shape to hold and settle into stillness with, and Madagascar is considered one of the world's most reliable sources for well-colored, richly veined rhodonite. How to use itHold the egg in your palm during a quiet moment or meditation, letting the smooth curves rest in your hand, or simply display it on a shelf or nightstand where its pink tone stands out. It pairs naturally with other crystals chosen for heart-centered or calming work, and makes a thoughtful gift for someone navigating a season of change. If you love rhodonite's soft, compassionate energy, our Rhodonite Angel carries the same stone in a carved guardian form. Care & cleansingRhodonite is reasonably durable at Mohs 5.5–6.5, so a brief rinse under water is fine. Avoid prolonged soaking, harsh chemicals, and rough handling that could scratch the polish, and store it away from harder stones that might mark the surface during transport or storage. Frequently asked questionsWhat is the Rhodonite Egg used for? It's a decorative and symbolic display piece — a polished stone egg meant for a shelf, desk, or meditation space. It is not a health product or medical device and isn't intended to diagnose, treat, or cure any condition. Where does this rhodonite come from? This piece is sourced from Madagascar, a region known for producing richly colored rhodonite with distinct black manganese veining. Is rhodonite safe to hold or rinse with water? Yes, rhodonite is fairly durable (Mohs 5.5–6.5) and brief water contact is fine. We'd still avoid prolonged soaking or harsh chemicals to keep the polish looking its best. What does the black veining mean? The dark veining is natural manganese oxide running through the stone. It's part of rhodonite's genuine character, and no two pieces are patterned the same way. What does rhodonite symbolize? In crystal tradition, rhodonite is associated with compassion and emotional balance, often kept as a grounding heart stone. Will my egg look exactly like the photo? Close, but not identical — each egg is natural and one of a kind, so the pink tone, depth of veining, and exact shape vary from piece to piece.
