RFB Breastplate - Light Kit

RFB Breastplate - Light Kit (PU) The RFB Breastplate - Light Kit is a lightweight, durable alternative to traditional metal armor, designed for players who prioritize comfort and mobility without sacrificing a classic knightly silhouette. Crafted from high-density polyurea, this breastplate offers superior impact resistance while remaining significantly lighter than steel, making it an excellent choice for long events or active skirmishing. This breastplate is sculpted to provide focused protection for the front of the torso and abdomen. It features a rounded flange at the base - a functional "sword turner" - designed to deflect incoming strikes away from the vulnerable area where torso and leg armor meet. The surface is finished with a hardened, realistic texture that mimics the look of authentic metal, allowing it to integrate seamlessly into any Ready for Battle or existing plate harness. Unlike steel, this polyurea construction is entirely maintenance-free; it will not rust, dent, or require oiling, making it ideal for wet climates or intensive play. Secure the plate using the adjustable 4 cm leather straps at the back, which allow for a personalized fit over a gambeson or arming doublet. Why it is worth adding to your kit High-density polyurea construction: Provides extreme durability and impact resistance with minimal weight. Maintenance-free: Naturally rust-proof and dent-resistant; requires no specialized armor care. Defensive design: Features an integrated "sword turner" flange to deflect blows from the midsection. Ergonomic fit: Sculpted specifically for the chest and abdomen for optimal movement. Adjustable strapping: Includes durable 4 cm leather straps and buckles for secure wear over padded garments. Lightweight: Significantly reduces fatigue, allowing for greater freedom of movement during long sessions. Sizes: S, M, L, XL Fit, adjustment & care The strap system handles most sizing on its own, but for a closer fit, you can gently reshape the material itself using heat. Apply heat to the inside of the piece rather than the painted exterior, so the material becomes flexible without damaging the finish. Finish: The base material underneath the painted surface is black, so over time, scratches and general wear may reveal this black color underneath. Easy touch-ups: Minor cosmetic damage, such as scuffs or scratches can be simply repaired at home using a primer and acrylic hobby paints (such as Army Painter or Citadel). Leather care: The leather straps should be maintained like any other full-grain leather product, with occasional conditioning to keep them supple and long-lasting. A living finish: Wear and patina are a natural part of your armor's lifecycle and can be expected with regular use, adding to the authentic, battle-worn character of the piece.
