Reverse Table Lamp - Portable

The Audo Copenhagen Reverse Table Lamp Portable flips the traditional lamp concept on its head with this fascinating interplay between raw travertine stone and polished bronzed aluminum that somehow feels both ancient and futuristic. Designer Aleksandar Lazic drew inspiration from 1970s Italian marble furniture, but this isn't about nostalgia - it's about understanding how natural materials can create drama through contrast. The untreated travertine base sits there like a sculptural chunk of earth while the curved aluminum shade hovers above it, creating this perfect tension between rough and refined. What's particularly clever is how the light actually illuminates the stone itself, highlighting all those natural imperfections and creating shadow play that changes throughout the day. The fact that it's completely portable means you can experiment with placement and discover new ways the light interacts with different surfaces. The rechargeable battery delivers up to 11 hours of illumination with 125 lumens at 2700K, which hits that sweet spot for ambient lighting that actually works for reading or task lighting when needed. The three-step touch dimmer built into the top knob is intuitive enough that you don't think about it - just tap to adjust the mood. Being IP44 rated means you can take this outside for dinner parties or use it in bathrooms where most lamps would fail from humidity exposure. The charging is handled through a magnetic connector that works with Audo's charging board system, though the shade size means you can't pack multiple lamps on one board. The quality shows in how substantial the travertine feels and how smoothly the aluminum finish reflects light without looking cheap or plasticky. Audo Copenhagen continues demonstrating their knack for finding designers who understand materials rather than just styling them. Aleksandar Lazic's engineering background shows in how well this thing is actually built - every detail from the charging system to the dimmer placement feels considered rather than just functional. The brand's merger of Menu and by Lassen brought together this deep understanding of Scandinavian design principles with a more experimental approach to materials and manufacturing. They're creating pieces that work as both sculptural objects and practical lighting, ensuring their designs enhance daily rituals rather than just looking impressive when turned off.
