This means that the candle is melted all the way to the edge of the glass. This is will prevent future "candle tunneling" which causes your wick to drown in the wax. 2) Always trim your wicks before each use. 3) Burn on a heat resistant surface that is stable and away from flammables. 4) Keep out of reach of children and pets. Do not leave unattended.  Ways to preserve the life of your candle: 1) Burn for a MAXIMUM of 4 hours at a time.  2) Try to place away from drafts. Sitting your candle inside of a hurricane vase can help with this.  3) Trim your wicks.
