Other people may refuse to let us go, clinging to us so much that we feel unable to walk away. When you value yourself, moving on can become easy!  Difficult situations can differ greatly. It can be a personal relationship of some sort that we wish to leave, or it can be something as ordinary as social networking. Indeed, people can have difficulty releasing any situation where someone clings to them. Some relationships are so needy as to be parasitic. Negative and abusive people are among the worst when it comes to letting them go. The fact is, the nature of codependence can lead to feelings of guilt that can melt even the strongest resolution when it comes to withdrawing from some relationships. As a result, often people hang in there in hopes of change—change that never materializes. When we are faced with difficult situations our body is hard wired to release cortisol.
