REL Acoustics No. 35 Reference Subwoofer

REL Acoustics No.35 Reference Subwoofer Exceptional speed, effortless scale, and Reference-level performance from a comprehensively re-engineered 12" design. REL's Reference Series brings together more than three decades of subwoofer design, with the goal of improving not simply bass extension and output, but the scale, dimensionality, natural dynamics, and musical connection of the entire system. No.35 brings that approach to a thoroughly re-engineered 12" platform, combining far greater output with the speed and nuance that make a smaller driver so compelling. :contentReference[oaicite:0]{index=0} The result establishes a new benchmark for REL's 12" Reference models. Its new driver and 900 W high-current class AB/D amplifier allow No.35 to play louder than No.32, REL's previous-generation 15" Reference flagship. That gives No.35 the scale and authority required for exceptional two-channel systems, reference-level music and home theater, and medium to large listening rooms. :contentReference[oaicite:1]{index=1} :contentReference[oaicite:2]{index=2} Re-Engineered 12K Carbon-Fiber Driver No.35 uses a finer 12K pure carbon-fiber weave together with a new cast-aluminum frame, redesigned suspension, and new surround. Compared with No.31, the driver gains an additional 12 mm of travel in each direction, dramatically increasing its ability to move air. Greater cone strength and improved self-damping also produce a quieter, more controlled diaphragm, preserving fine detail, speed, and nuance even as output rises. :contentReference[oaicite:3]{index=3} 900 W of High-Current Power The new driver is controlled by a 900 W class AB/D amplifier engineered for both immense current reserves and the speed required to follow musical transients cleanly. At the foundation of the power supply is a massive 17 lb. toroidal transformer, giving No.35 the reserves to deliver deep bass with authority while remaining composed under demanding conditions. :contentReference[oaicite:4]{index=4} Scale Beyond Its Size No.35 represents a significant step beyond what REL previously considered possible from a single 12" Reference subwoofer. Its ability to exceed the output of the larger, previous-generation No.32 gives it the headroom required for large-scale music and theater, while its smaller driver retains the immediacy and responsiveness prized in high-performance two-channel systems. Low-frequency extension reaches 17 Hz (-6 dB). :contentReference[oaicite:5]{index=5} :contentReference[oaicite:6]{index=6} Precise System and Room Integration Dual parametric EQ provides precise optimization for both the listening room and the system, while REL's High Level Connection allows No.35 to receive the same signal presented to the main loudspeakers. Together, these tools give the installer considerable control over the transition between loudspeaker and subwoofer rather than treating deep bass as a separate effect. :contentReference[oaicite:7]{index=7} The supplied Reference Remote places the primary setup and listening controls within easy reach, while optional AirShip Direct compatibility permits wireless operation where running a signal cable is impractical. :contentReference[oaicite:8]{index=8} Reference Line Array Continuity No.35 retains the exact external dimensions of No.31, allowing owners of the earlier model to incorporate No.35 into an existing Reference Line Array. This preserves compatibility with an established system while providing a natural upgrade path to greater drive, extension, and authority. No.35 can also be used singly or as a stereo pair. :contentReference[oaicite:9]{index=9} Features 12" 12K pure carbon-fiber driver New cast-aluminum driver frame, suspension, and surround Additional 12 mm of driver travel in each direction compared with No.31 900 W high-current class AB/D amplifier 17 lb. toroidal power transformer Dual parametric equalizer for room and system optimization REL High Level Connection Reference Remote control Optional AirShip Direct wireless compatibility Single, stereo-pair, and Reference Line Array configurations Exact external dimensions of No.31 for Reference Line Array compatibility 12 coats of hand-rubbed lacquer Specifications Driver: 12" (305 mm) long-throw carbon-fiber cone with inverted carbon-fiber center cap and die-cast alloy chassis Low-Frequency Extension (-6 dB): 17 Hz in-room Power Output: 900 W Amplifier Type: class AB/D Dimensions (H × W × D): 17" × 25.12" × 28.5" (435 × 638 × 724 mm) Weight: 130 lb.
