Using an Electronic cleaner or enhancer around the battery terminal will prolong life and keep the connections from corroding such as Dielectric Grease sold at most hardware stores! Battery Charger & Strapped Cover with adapter ARE included with starter kit purchase.  Please treat the battery with care while on the water, it is a good practice to take the battery off while moving from spot to spot at all times if possible when not strapped to the rod. Here is Capt. Chris Donato on his personal review of Reel Battery products, which he utilizes on his boat the 'Benchmark'.
