Reef Code B - Brightwell Aquatics

Brightwell Aquatics Reef Code B is the carbonate-rich component of a scientifically developed two-part dosing system, designed to maintain optimal levels of alkalinity and calcium in reef aquariums. When used in conjunction with Reef Code A, it provides balanced supplementation of calcium and carbonates—two of the most critical elements for reef-building organisms. Together, these components replicate the ionic ratio found in natural seawater, ensuring that your corals, clams, and calcareous algae have the ideal environment to thrive. Maintaining stable alkalinity is vital to supporting coral skeletal growth, buffering pH, and promoting overall system stability. Reef Code B delivers a concentrated source of carbonate and bicarbonate ions to replenish depleted alkalinity in your system efficiently and reliably. This product is especially beneficial in systems with moderate to high demands for calcium and alkalinity due to dense coral populations or accelerated growth rates. Formulated by marine scientists and reef professionals, Reef Code B contains no unwanted additives such as phosphates, silicates, or organic compounds that could compromise water quality or fuel nuisance algae. It is stronger and more concentrated than many competing products, allowing for effective supplementation with smaller volumes and less frequent dosing. Key Benefits:   Supports coral calcification and growth by replenishing carbonate alkalinity Helps stabilize pH and maintain proper buffering capacity Ionically balanced when used with Reef Code A Safe for all marine life – free from phosphate, silicate, and organics Highly concentrated formula delivers superior performance Designed for use in all marine and reef aquaria       Instructions for Use: Basic Dosing: Shake the bottle well before use. Add 5 ml (1 capful) of Reef Code B per 25 US gallons of aquarium water every other day or as needed to maintain an alkalinity range of 7–12 dKH. When used in equal parts with Reef Code A, this method provides a balanced calcium-to-carbonate ratio that mirrors natural seawater. Important: Never combine Reef Code A and B in the same container, as this will cause precipitation and render the product ineffective. Allow at least 60 seconds between dosing each part. Advanced Dosing: Test your aquarium’s alkalinity using a reliable test kit before dosing. Each 1 ml of Reef Code B will raise the alkalinity in 1 US gallon of water by approximately 2.22 dKH (or 0.79 meq/L). If your aquarium’s alkalinity is below 7 dKH, dose up to 5 ml per 10 US gallons daily until the desired level is reached. Once stable, adjust your dosing regimen based on consumption rates. To determine your system’s exact demand, measure the daily drop in alkalinity, divide that number by 2.22 (dKH), and multiply by the system volume to calculate your daily dose in milliliters. Note that different aquariums may require different ratios of Reef Code A and B depending on biological load, coral density, and lighting intensity.     Guaranteed Analysis:   Alkalinity (min): 8,400 dKH (3,000 meq/L)   Ingredients: Purified water, inorganic carbonate, bicarbonate, sulfate, and borate salts     Technical Insight: Reef Code B is part of a balanced approach to supplementation that mimics the natural environment of coral reefs. In the wild, organisms extract calcium and carbonates from seawater to build their aragonite skeletons. This product ensures those critical building blocks are always available in the correct proportions, even in systems that maintain elevated calcium and alkalinity levels. For maximum performance, it is strongly recommended that magnesium levels are adjusted to 1,290–1,320 ppm before using Reef Code A or B. Adequate magnesium prevents unwanted calcium carbonate precipitation, allowing for optimal absorption and stability.   Caution: May irritate eyes or skin. Rinse thoroughly if contact occurs. Keep out of reach of children. Not for human consumption.
