Red Dift Rose

Red Drift Rose (Rosa hybrid 'Meigalpio')Red Drift Rose gives you bold, long-season color in a compact, groundcover-style shrub that is easy to fit into almost any sunny bed. Small, vibrant red blooms show up in clusters from spring through frost, keeping borders and slopes looking active for months. The naturally low, mounding habit fills in quickly, so plantings look finished without adding height or visual clutter. If you want reliable flower impact with a clean, landscape-friendly footprint, this rose is built for the job. Distinctive FeaturesThis Drift rose produces abundant clusters of petite, semi-double, cardinal-red blooms with bright yellow stamens for extra contrast up close. Flowers repeat steadily through the season, often with little downtime, and the glossy, deep green foliage keeps the plant looking polished between flushes. Its habit is low and gently spreading, making it ideal for edging and draping slightly over walls or bed lines when given space. Mature size is typically about 1.5 feet tall and about 2.5 feet wide. Growing Conditions Sun: Full sun is best for the heaviest bloom and the healthiest, densest growth. Soil: Plant in well-drained soil, and improve average beds with organic matter for stronger performance. Water: Water deeply during establishment, then water when the top 3 inches of soil are dry while avoiding soggy conditions. USDA Zones: Zones 4 to 11. Spacing: Space about 2 to 3 feet apart to allow airflow and let the mound fill in evenly. Ideal Uses Focal Point: Use as a focal point at the front of a sunny bed where a low ribbon of red bloom can define the edge for months. Front Borders: Keeps the front of beds crisp with a compact mound that does not block other plantings. Mass Planting: Plant in groups for a continuous carpet of red that reads well from the street. Slopes and Banks: Low spreading growth helps cover ground while adding long-season flower color. Walls and Edges: Let it drape gently over a low wall or bed edge for a softer, more finished look. Low Maintenance Care Pruning: Cut back in late winter to early spring to refresh growth and maintain a dense, rounded shape. Deadheading: Remove spent clusters to keep the plant tidy and encourage faster repeat bloom. Watering: Water at the base to keep foliage drier and support healthier growth through humid weather. Feeding: Fertilize in spring and again after the first strong bloom flush to support continuous flowering. Mulching: Mulch to conserve moisture, suppress weeds, and moderate soil temperature around the roots. Why Choose Red Drift Rose? Vibrant Red Blooms: Cardinal-red flowers with yellow centers deliver bold color in a low, easy-to-place form.
