Red Castle Alpenglow

16 x 20” | Colored Pencil on Birch Panel | Framed in Walnut There are places that stop you in your tracks—and Red Castle is one of them. Tucked about eight miles into the Uintas, you climb steadily until the landscape suddenly opens up and reveals this glowing formation of quartzite, sandstone, and shell. It catches the light in a way that feels almost unreal—warm, radiant, and quietly powerful. This piece is my attempt to hold onto that moment. The stillness. The surprise. The kind of beauty that makes you forget how far you’ve walked. Created in colored pencil on birch panel, the natural wood grain subtly weaves into the piece, adding depth and movement throughout the landscape. It is finished in a thin walnut floater frame, ready to hang and designed to complement the warmth of the composition.
