Red Agate

Forming in cavities in Rhyolite, these unique and beautiful Red Agates (also referred to as Crater Agates and Red Fox Agates) are colored deep red from imbedded iron oxides and form in a rounded nodular habit (note that this rich red color is completely natural, void of any dyes). There is also a thin, dark-grey layer of Agate between the Rhyolite and red Agate, framing the red Agate perfectly. The contrast, not only in color, but between the rough Rhyolite and smooth, nodular Agate, is quite eye-catching! This piece is no exception, with a perfectly balanced exposed cavity top-center.
