Unlike shunt-style regulators that dump current to the ground to control voltage on Harley-Davidson alternators, Cycle Electric rectifying regulators block current to control the voltage. This design reduces stator current (and heat!) resulting in less strain on the electrical components—and the motor, so you'll free up a little power, too.
