Record Bond, Cigar Label

This cigar box label for the Record Bond brand epitomizes the aspirational advertising of the early twentieth century. A gentleman's hand, emerging from an impeccably tailored dark suit with crisp white cuff, proffers a leather portfolio bursting with currency and bonds, sealed with an elegant red wax stamp. Gold coins scattered at the composition's base reinforce the unmistakable message: smoking Record Bond cigars aligns you with prosperity and success. Produced by Consolidated Litho Corp. of Long Island, New York, the label showcases the exceptional chromolithographic technique that made American cigar labels prized examples of commercial art. The rich color palette, from the ethereal blue gradient background to the precisely rendered gold coins, demonstrates the multiple stone passes required to achieve such luminous results. A handsome example of Gilded Age commercial imagery, this label bridges the worlds of advertising history, American business culture, and fine printmaking. A standout piece for collectors of tobacco ephemera or early American chromolithography. Size: 6.75" x 8.5" Condition: Very Good, Age-appropriate wear.
